Hot Cars

Hot, sexy and just plain grunty cars will be posted here! Send your pictures to nzoncars@gmail.com

Our roving reporter Rod Johns has been snapping around Ponsonby again. Firstly we have a very shiny Commodore, not sure I’d want it coming towards me out on a highway on a sunny summers day, the glare could be distracting to say the least!

Next up there are a couple of ‘classic’ jappas. A 1976 Datsun 120y, hatted by many but sort after by the boy racers of the ’80’s.

Then we have a 1972 Datsun 1600, I always did have a soft spot for these for some strange reason.

I still struggle to class Japanese cars as classics but old ones like these in this condition they really are classics, especially as there can’t be too many around now with the rust issues these machines had!

April 2013, spied this beauty rolling along Central Park Drive, 2012 Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera:

We spotted this nice little 1963 Austin Sports car in seemingly completely original condition at the March 2013 Kumeu Show car park on the way in:

A hot looking Pontiac spotted in Freemans Bay by Rod Johns in February 2013, what model is this?:

A couple more tidy machines snapped by our ‘roving reporter’ Rod Johns:

Firsly, in Freemans Bay,an extreemely straight 1983 Toyota Corolla Wagon. These old wagons will always tug at my heart strings as my parents had one of the ’81 twin headlight wagons many years ago. It was passed down to my brother and me when we were new to the art of driving. Full of rust, crashed many many times by the both of us but it could still handle 120kph on the highway (not that I did of course)! One of the most reliable cars ever…

Next up is a fire engine red 1945 Chevy Pickup seen in Great North Road, Grey Lynn…

Beautifully restored classic 56 Chevy at Jacinda Ardern’s (Labour List MP and Central Auckland Labour candidate) campaign caravan launch. The caravan is also a fully restored 56 classic: It’s the one the Top Twins toured in.

Another Ponsonby surprise spotted by Rod Johns. This time a 1969 Mustang shinning away on a sunny Autumn day, 30th May. What a beast!

Wouldn’t believe it myself if the photo’s didn’t exist to prove it. A real car seen in Ponsonby on the 22nd of March by Rod Johns, a very tidy Buick Riviera…

A little monster here seen in Henderson: ’37 Standard 8 Ford Popular, only it’s not all that standard. It’s running a 3.5 litre Rover V8, Edlebrock 600 carburettor, P76 diff and gear box. The owner would like some help with installing the parcel tray so drop me a line if you can help.

Snapped by John Faulkner in Napier about a month ago: A 2001 Ferrari 360. Nice.

Spotted while on a family picnic at Cornwall Park 12.03.2011. A very tidy Chevy Impala.

***To the owner, please email me more info on it so I can put that on here too, Cheers, Ken.***

A well known hot looking MR2 got just a we bit hotter at the recent Cannonball Run. This car had been in various magazines both here and overseas as well as a star of the High Octane DVD’s.

Special thanks to Neen for the fiery shots. http://www.facebook.com/lifecapturedbyneen?v=info and http://www.lifecapturedbyneen.blogspot.com/

Spotted in the Henderson Mitre 10 Mega car park (apologies for the poor quality photo, was a quick snap with my cell phone as it drove past):

Saleen Mustang

For sale on TradeMe a 1993 Mitsubishi Mirage http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=343882500. Nothing special there with this rusty old shopping cart but the time spent on the art work is something special indeed!
